Consciousness Transplant is an immersive, virtual reality (VR) experience, which enables users to visualize their consciousness and experience the process of re-embody to a new subject. I fulfilled this by having the user wear a VR headset and sit in a real wheelchair, strapped in, to mimic the scene featured in the virtual environment.
The experience begins with a first-person perspective of someone being held in an operating room, with patients lying on tables and surgically-masked doctors milling about the room. The scene then fades to a colorful, galaxy-like, seemingly endless space before returning to the operating room, where the patients, including your first-person avatar, have been turned into robots.
How do I allow users to immerse into this VR experience?
Before they start, I onboard users onto a wheelchair, strapped in, to mimic the scene featured in the virtual environment. I intend to allow users to feel "presence" immediately by mapping same object from real world to virtual . Besides, I using those discomforts to increase the tension of this experience.
